The number of devices with Internet capability has increased rapidly. To simplify the usage of the devices and process of controlling the devices is very important. But today there are so many standards of Internet of Things and conversion on these standards is crucial for the communication of these IoT devices with difference standards. For example, SAANet [1], the communication protocol for smart appliances defined in Taiwan and Smart object protocol by IPSO Alliance [2] are not compatible, how to convert SAANet protocol to IPSO protocol and vice versa are critical if both IoT devices are used in an application. In the thesis, we intend to solve the protocol conversion problem.
The contributions of this thesis are as follows:
(1) To describe all the functionalities of smart appliances and smart objects in SAANet protocol, called SAANet+.
(2) To describe all the functionalities of smart appliances and smart objects in IPSO protocol, called IPSO+.
(3) To design and implement a converter on SAANet and IPSO for IoT gateways. The design is verified on Raspberry Pi with CoAP client and server [3].
