本研究採用非語文的視覺圖像與聽覺音樂刺激操弄傳統性與現代性概念促發,然後使用Blair與Banaji(1996)的語意促發典範(semantic priming paradigm)進行激發性別刻板印象(stereotype activation)作業,欲探究傳統性與現代性概念促發對激發性別刻板印象的影響。本研究概念促發為不同感官處理的非語言訊息,避免與後續語意促發程序的任何干擾。結果發現,現代性概念與傳統性概念促發會調節性別刻板印象的激發程度,現代性概念促發比傳統性概念促發激發較小的性別刻板印象。研究另使用Jacoby(1991)歷程分離程序檢視不同概念促發影響激發性別刻板印象的歷程。結果顯示現代性概念是經由提升控制式歷程來降低激發性別刻板印象;而傳統性概念則為提升自動化歷程進而促進性別刻板印象的激發。以上結果表示,如欲達到兩性平權的目標,應多加推廣現代化意象甚至未來觀,盡量減少緬懷傳統。
