台灣的就業市場競爭激烈,英文技能已經從個人加分技能,轉變為能力的基本要件。然而根據多益官方2015年英文程度調查,大學生英文的平均成績只有499分,這跟企業要求明顯有所落差。因為台灣人學習英文都是以填鴨式教育的方式學習,所以當編碼訊息的方式不正確,就會發生遺忘。因此本研究想了解不同的氣味書影響學生的學習單字的記憶,讓學生可以在減少遺忘。
研究方法採用真實驗設計,透過模擬讀書環境的方式進行兩個組內設計的實驗。實驗一主要是探討氣味書(依蘭花、尤加利、無氣味)與學習狀態之間的因果關係。實驗二主要是探討氣味書(依蘭花、尤加利、無氣味)與字彙記憶之間的因果關係。實驗一與實驗二招募到255位受測樣本。這些資料透過One-Way ANOVA進行分析以驗證結果。
結果發現,不同的氣味書對學習狀態有顯著的影響,依蘭花氣味書讓人呈現放鬆的學習狀態,尤加利氣味書讓人呈現專注的學習狀態;不同的氣味書對英文單字的記憶也有顯著的影響。期望研究結果未來可以在學習運用上提供出版業與英文教育業者參考。


English has turned a value-added skill into a basic ability due to the competitive employment market Taiwan. According to the TOEIC''s survey in 2015, there is a significant difference between companies'' need and students'' English-language capability on average score 499. Owing to the rote English learning, this is a wrong message-encoding method, forgotten always happened. This study examines that students could reduce forgotten by using different scented books.
This study takes true experiment and 2 within-subject design experiment to simulate the reading space. In study 1, we probe the causal relationship between scented book (Ylang-Ylang, Eucalyptus, no scent) and learning status. In study 2, we test the causal relationship between scent (Ylang-Ylang, Eucalyptus, no scent) and vocabulary memorization. We recruited 255 samples in study 1 and study 2, and then analyzed the data by one-way ANOVA to verify the result.
This study explores two main issues: scented book has a salient impact on the learning status (Ylang-Ylang scent makes relaxed and Eucalyptus scent makes focused), and scented book has a significant influence on vocabulary memorization of learning.
Implications are drawn for effective English improving method for English book publisher and English education industry.
