過去幾十年以前的台灣女性一直被傳統“男外女內”思想所束縛著，在性別角色分工的觀念下，女性以身為賢妻良母作為其終生的職志。婚姻在社會的認知上是「合作」、「配合」也是種要女性「服從」的制度。在這種思維的環境下，早期台灣的女性培養出了犧牲奉獻的傳統精神與韌性。 在今日而言，時代變遷中的文化交流與男女平等訴求的同時，女性在職場與經濟自主能力都可以與男性抗衡。「家」也許已不再是女性唯一歸屬的地方。然而，台灣女性對「家」依然深藏著奉獻的精神與韌性。
本創作以跨越兩個世代的愛情故事來闡述「家後」的角色與意義，從日治時期台灣軍伕戰死他鄉，妻子的恐懼與認命到丈夫反動入獄而亡的悲悽。跨越80年的時光，一對戀人好似已在前世認識；當年丈夫獄中對妻子思念的詞句，在經歷多年後在偶然的機會為年輕的樂團的男主唱所發現，譜曲成「家後」的歌曲參加歌唱決賽，獻給因為代班而受重傷昏迷在醫院的太太。

Over the past few decades, Taiwanese women have been constantly bound by the traditional idea, "Men are breadwinners, and women are housekeepers". Because of the gender roles, most Taiwanese women devote themselves fully to their family as a good wife and mother for life. Marriage has long been recognized as a relationship of "cooperation", "coordination" and "obedience", which every woman is considered to follow. Under such circumstance, the early Taiwanese women cultivated traditional spirits of sacrifice and tenacity. With the change of time nowadays, the cultural exchange and equality between men and women make women independent from men in the workplace and economy. Home is no longer the only place for women. However, Taiwanese women still have the spirits of dedication and tenacity for their own family.
This study is based on the love story across two generations to elaborate the roles and meanings of "Ke-au". It's a touching story set in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation. The story concerns Taiwanese soldiers' death in other countries, wives' fear, fates, and sadness for husbands' death in prison because of reaction against the Japanese. Over eighty years, two lovers seems to know each other in the past life. After many years, the words a husband wrote in prison for his wife were used by chance to compose the song "Ke-au" by a young male lead singer of a band. Then, the male lead singer sang this song in a singing competition for his wife in hospital, who was seriously injured and in a coma because of cover for her husband.
