The MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry involves a variety of line of business, and faces many challenges in business now, because the different professional fields and industrial professional services covered by MICE are quite complicated. The sizes of private companies are different and lack holistic horizontal and vertical support integration. The application of e-commerce can make the MICE industry yield low-cost and highly efficient operations, and promote the internationalization of the MICE industry, which is an effective way to promote the industry’s development. This study aimed to analyze the needs and benefits of applying e-commerce in MICE companies and to discuss its feasibility. In addition, this study also wanted to build a model of e–commerce application in MICE companies in an attempt to integrate, coordinate and manage industrial resources to be developed in the future and lead the industry to new direction of business operations.
The study employed case study method of qualitative approach to a domestic MICE company and used in-depth interview, secondary data analysis method and filed observation to collect data for analyzing the feasibility of this case company’s e-commerce adoption. According to the analysis result, the case company’s e-commerce application was feasible. Furthermore, the study suggested that MICE companies should considered e-commerce operations. To apply e-commerce helps enterprises transition, reduce costs, improve efficiency and increase competitiveness.
