Facing the challenges of cyber globalization in the complicated and ever-changing time, to properly manage information equipment has become the most important key assets for innovations in an organization. More and more computers and network help officers in the official fire units on their daily and emergent works. Owing to the special working environment of a fire department, once a host or network develops abnormal situations or even goes down, the managing staff of information and network usually is passively noticed to handle these problems. This could affect the disaster relief services and daily normal works, if the abnormal state could not be immediately dealt with in the first place. One of the major obstacles is that the higher authority usually assigns limited manpower for managing the ever growing number of the hosts and networks on district departments. Moreover, owing to the large number of computers at the distributed locations in public sectors, the system administrators can’t watch at them one by one all the time. It is virtually impossible to detect and correct abnormalities in the first place, and the delay may crash the equipment and the public service.
This study, based on software agents, designs and implements a system to sense the anomalies of remote hosts or networks and notify the relevant administrators to quickly correct the abnormality in the first place. The system performs abnormality detections on computers and networks distributed in each local fire department by a user-side agent program that collects computer information and network status and transfers the operational data in real time to a cloud database, from which a control agents in the cloud server filters out the possible abnormalities by averaging the load of a central processor, utility of memory, capacity of hard drive and etc. for a period of time and comparing them with several threshold values determined in this study. When an abnormality of an equipment is detected, the control agent will notify relevant administrators to maintain the equipment, avoiding later complicated and difficult corrections.
