BIM(Building Information Modeling) is a type of digital modeling combining engineering drawings and construction data, providing 3-dimensional functionality and visualization, an information technology altering plots of construction documentation in the past. The research aims to utilize present BIM file and further develop in drafting space in order to issue construction drawing plots, to discuss the challenge remain to fully implement BIM in practical projects among construction industry. BIM technology is currently under initial application domestically, despite the feature to perform clash check, which improve hidden design issues of engineering interface, and reduce design alternation afterwards, still there are no standard procedure and assisting software of BIM implementation. The foreign main stream software applied still different from domestic projects, also considering BIM technology still immature, causing the efficiency of BIM generated construction drawings far left behind present 2-dimensional CAD drawings, hence BIM yet to replace CAD drafting as a practical procedure. Besides, the higher cost of starting implementation of BIM procedure and standards, and lack of related professionals or specialists are resulting negative impression among firms and companies of the industry. The nature of BIM consists of large amount of data, also longer time to build an initial complete model, and hard to review the results instantly. Consider complex design and construction, BIM procedure requires logical engineering sequence and knowledge, it’s challenging for designer to organize so to develop at once in a short period during design process. Regarding current compressed construction scheduling, BIM draftsman may fail to deliver complete and quality drawings.
