The ship building develops rapidly all over the world in recent years, the dockyards of various countries have their own ship building modes, so as to complete the construction of ships faster and conform with international laws and regulations. At present, under the conditions of ship construction rules and standards, the ship construction quality of various major dockyards has been upgraded greatly, and various dockyards build similar ship types. Therefore, in order to show the dockyards' competitiveness, in the case of similar ship types, the length of shipbuilding period becomes an index of the dockyards' power to build ships. The shipbuilding period is divided into in-dock production cycle and in-water production cycle. The in-dock production cycle reveals the dockyard's building ability most directly, and it is directly related to the dockyard's yield. Therefore, how to shorten the in-dock production cycle has been the main research direction of dockyards in the world. This paper aims to shorten the in-dock production cycle, and discusses the traditional stern tube machining and stern tube pouring machining. After the traditional bore hole machining, the dimensional data of stern tube are obtained, and the bore hole construction process and accuracy control method are analyzed. The difficult control of stern tube bore hole precision and long machining time are learned about, and the effect of stern tube bore hole on in-dock production cycle is concluded. In order to shorten the in-dock production cycle, the construction technology must be changed. In the concept of grouting, the stern tube bush is machined, the center of stern tube bush is adjusted by ship engine alignment, the epoxy is poured into the gap between stern tube and stern tube bush, the stern tube and stern bush machining and press fit procedures are removed, the shipbuilding period is shortened a lot.
