英文語言技能包括聽、說、讀、寫四種技能,然而隨著全球化的到來,英語聽說能力成為英文溝通上很重要的技能,而在英語的學習過程中,聽與說為相互影響的兩個因素。溝通式教學法為現今十分重要的英語教學法,目的是希望透過不同的情境下給予實際的英語溝通情境,讓學習者能夠提升聽與說能力。文獻指出在學習者發生英語口說錯誤時立即給予矯正性回饋,可有效對學習者錯誤進行矯正。另外雖然己有許多利用語音辨識技術即時偵測學習者所說語句之研究,卻鮮少有將語音辨識技術結合矯正性回饋之研究。因此本研究設計一套名為Just Speak(語音辨識結合矯正性回饋之英文輔助學習系統)之平板應用程式,將溝通式教學法融入遊戲背景情境中,並以語音辨識結合矯正性回饋為重要機制,用以提升學習者之學習成效。本研究以準實驗法將學習者隨機分配至「語音辨識組(控制組)」與「語音辨識矯正性回饋組(實驗組)」,進行四堂課之實驗,共有85位國小六年級學童完成本研究。其研究結果顯示:(1) 兩組在英語聽力學習成效沒有顯著差異;(2)兩組在沉浸程度沒有顯著差異,但二組學童對於利用遊戲式學習英文皆有正面之回饋;(3)語音辨識矯正性回饋組的英語口說能力學習成效顯著高於語音辨識組,故可推論本研究之語音辨識結合矯正性回饋對兒童學習英語口說能力是有幫助的。
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are four macro skills of communication for a language learning. With the advent of globalization, listening and speaking become essential skills when learning English. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is one of the English teaching methods. It emphasizes interaction and aims to provide different English learning scenarios that closely related to learners’ realistic situations to learning English in order to improve their listening and speaking ability. Thus, studies have indicated that it is important to give learners’ corrective feedback during their English learning process to assist their self-corrective English error. Speech recognition is one of advanced technologies that has popular used to detect people speaking a target language, especially in English. Although there are an abundance of research related to speech recognition, a little of them combine it with corrective feedback. Therefore, this study combines communicative language teaching approach along with speech recognition and corrective feedback to develop a system, called Just Speak, in the game-based learning environment to enhance learners’ flow states and improve their English learning performance. The results show that there is no significance different between two groups’ flow state and satisfaction when applying communication language teaching to game-based learning environment during the learning process. However, students have positive flow states and enjoy learning English in this game environment. In addition, the implementation of the speech recognition with corrective feedback in this learning approach can enhance sixth grade students’ speaking performance.
