本研究之目的為探討自閉症類群障礙(ASD)兒童與典型發展(TD)兒童在可接受噪音值(ANL)表現上是否有顯著差異,同時探討兩者之最適聆聽音量(MCL)與背景噪音量(BNL)之差異性,藉此瞭解ASD兒童之聽覺特質,以及ASD兒童處在噪音情境下之語音聆聽表現。
本研究之參與者分為兩組。實驗組為15名ASD兒童,對照組為15名TD兒童,年齡範圍為7歲至12歲。以調整之華語版可接受噪音值材料與步驟測量其ANL。
研究結果顯示ASD兒童之ANL為9.67 dB,TD兒童之ANL為3.20 dB,兩組之ANL具統計上之顯著差異(p<0.001)。但同時也發現,ASD組與TD組之MCL與BNL表現未呈現顯著差異。
ASD組在ANL的表現較TD組差,推測ASD個案於聽取語音時,受到噪音影響的程度較大。兩組有不同的表現推測可能因素為,其一,ASD個案特殊之聽覺與感覺處理層面之影響,如常合併有聽覺敏感(hyperacusis)特質。其二,ASD為中樞神經系統病變之發展障礙,聽覺處理機制可能與非ASD個案有差異,較未能適當的過濾不相關的聽覺訊息,而影響聽覺表現。

The aim of this study was to explore whether the acceptable noise level (ANL) is different between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) children and typical development (TD) children. The difference of most comfortable level (MCL) and background noise level (BNL) was also explored in order to probe the auditory characteristics and the listening performance of ASD children.
The participants were divided into two groups, which included 15 ASD children (7-11y) and 15 TD children (8-12y). Subjects of each group were tested with revised version of Mandarin acceptable noise level.
Results revealed that the mean ANLs of ASD groups were 9.67 dB and 3.20 dB for TD group, respectively. ANLs were significantly higher for the ASD group than the TD group. However, there were no significant differences in MCL and BNL between ASD and TD groups, respectively.
It may be speculated that the poor ANLs performance in ASD group may suggest they were more susceptible by the noise during speech listening situation. The ANL differences between two groups may be associated with two factors. First, there are unusual auditory and sensory aspects in ASD group, such as hyperacusis characteristics. Second, ASD is considered as a disorder of the central nervous system, there may be some differences in auditory processing mechanism and auditory filter system, which affecting their listening performance.
