Carbon emission has been a critical issue. In recent years, many countries have implemented a variety of laws against the problem, and therefore energy industry has become significant for a country to develop the economy as well as influenced the society. In order to protect the environment and human health, the EU enacted the RoHS Act on July 1, 2006 to prohibit the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) or polybrominated biphenyl (PBB ) in the electronic device. To echo the Act, many countries have set a timetable to abandon the incandescent bulbs. Australia, Japan, Taiwan, the EU, and Canada started in 2012, and the US and UK began in 2014. Moreover, the radiative contamination from Fukishima’s power plant after the miserable earthquake happed on March 11, 2011, has further drawn global attention. Executive Yuan of The Republic of China approved “Green Energy Industry Promotion Program” in October of 2009 as the national policy. In 2016, the government further included energy industry as one of the 5 innovation projects. LED, featured with compact, lower power-consumption, and low-radiation, has certainly become an important component to replace the existing general lighting and electronics products. The thesis tries to address the LED industry status as well as observe how O company, a LED player, operates its business. In the meantime, the growth strategy, SWOT and five-force analyses are also adopted in order to provide an objective advice to the company.
