Abstract
I have been painting on the landscape subject, for a few years, from earlier watercolor paintings to this abstract painting project. However, this series of paintings was very different, regarding the way of expression, the style, materials, techniques, and colors etc. Through the form of two-dimensional abstract painting, this creation project conveyed my spiritual feeling for landscape. It was like a slow process of evolution. In this creation, the effort that I have put into the spiritual aspect was much more than that of the technique aspect. Through the theme of “mountain scene”, I showed the nature of human soul and concepts. The paintings of this theme showed my way of interacting with mountain and forest and my reflection upon the origin of my inner thoughts. Experiencing is crucial for my life purpose. So, this creation aimed to recover and enrich my own life experience. The motivation of these creations originated from my curiosity and longing for the spiritual world. I wanted to experience the creative process in which the body was consistent with the soul, to experience the spiritual energy of mountain and forest, and to express my surrender of natural power. This creation project also provided viewers with an opportunity to experience art from a spiritual point of view and to feel its purity, different from the common techniques of criticism and aesthetic judgement, which were based on media and forms in the past. All of these were what I contributed to the art world. The research method of this project was participatory action research, focusing on thematic painting. The researcher was the creator, as the researched, at the same time.
