The objective of this essay is to find out the fun and joyof life; the whole idea is derived from artist’s personal life experience. She has chosen the Taiwan's phonetic symbol, a.k.a. Bopomofo, as the main element for her painting works, trying to break the stereotypes of Bopomofo. On top of that, her works demonstrate the visual effects of combining (1) shape, (2) design, and (3) art, via beautiful shape of phonetic symbol.
The idea of her painting works is generated from artist’s childhood memories, accompanying experience as a kindergarten teacher and creativity in everyday life. Her works, an imagination of phonetic symbols presented through painting and mixed media,have covered issues widely from family love, friendship, naturalsceneryto social phenomenon. The literature reviews, focusing those artists and Simple Artin the field ofsymbols / childlike innocence, had also deeplyinfluenced and improved her works.
The series of phonetic symbolpaintings filled with fun and joy of childlike innocence have expressed the sincerity, kindness and beauty of artist’spure heart. Moreover, the creation of these paintings and formof exhibitionhave been incentives for the artist to learn and create; and further enhancedthe link between artist and viewers. It is hoped that imagination of Taiwan’s phonetic symbol be part of different age groups of viewers’ life and realizing “Art is Life, Life is Art”.
