This paper investigates the effects of employee relations on technological innovations. The sample consists of 3,336 public listed companies in the United States from 1998 to 2006. The empirical results indicate that firms with better employee relations have higher patent counts, patent citations, patent counts per employee and patent citations per employee, which implies that better employee relations promote innovation.
