The request of commercial space is growing nowadays. The customers turn from single market to great shopping mall. With the shopping mall becomes more and more complicate, how to find the correct route for a customer is important. Nowadays, the navigation system is mainly road signs. But users often find it’s so difficult to find the right way with road signs that they still need to ask for help. However,the help through verbal communication always leads to misunderstanding. Our research collected different ways of verbal navigation. After classifying and analysis them, an experiment is set to understand the best way to give directions. We also studied on the reaction of different verbal direction giving by the askers. The study find the best way for navigation in a commercial space is by “location description”. The customers should be given a simple knowledge about where they are, then provided with further information. In the future, we looking forward to develop a smart mobile app to give directions using audio guide in shopping malls which offer a more initiative way to provide information to the customers.
