本研究旨在探討擁有婚姻、就業與親職等多重角色及不同角色組合對於心理健康的影響。本研究參考的理論包括「角色累積理論(the Role accumulation theory)」和「角色壓力理論(the Role Strain theory)」，前者認為多重角色可增加社會支持、獲得經濟資源及角色替代達到自我滿足而對心理健康有正面影響，後者認為多重角色會因角色衝突及過多負擔而有較差的心理健康。
本研究採橫斷性研究，資料來源為中央研究院社會學研究所2010年台灣社會變遷基本調查第六期第一次調查計畫研究，樣本選取台灣地區25至55歲538位男性與519位女性為對象，並透過多元復迴歸來分析多重角色組合與心理健康的關係。
研究結果顯示對男性而言「就業+親職角色」組合的單親就業父親心理健康會較其他男性為差；對女性而言「就業+親職角色」組合的單親就業母親心理健康較其他女性為差，而「婚姻+親職角色」組合的沒有就業的已婚母親心理健康則較其他女性為佳。

This study examined the effect of role combinations of marriage, parenthood and employment on the mental health of men and women.
This study was inspired by the competing theories of the Role Accumulation Theory, which proposed that a person who takes multiple roles of marriage, parenthood and employment will acquired more social support and resources and therefore have better mental health, and the Role Strain Theory, which proposed that a person who takes multiple roles will experience role conflict and overloading demands and therefore have poorer mental health.
This was a cross-sectional study using the data of Taiwan Social Change Survey conducted in 2010, which included a sample of 538 men and 519 women aged 25 to 55.
It was found that working single fathers and mothers had poorer mental health than other men and women, and non-working married women with children had better mental health than other women.
