Elderly issues become important accompanied with increasing of the elder people. Many studies have shown that emotions affect individual’s cognitive behavior. Accroding to literatures, switch tasks is a tool which is most often used to evaluate individual’s cognitive flexibility. In this study, two experiments are conducted. The purpose of this study is to understand how emotional stimulus impact the participants’ performance of the switch tasks, especially for the elderly. In experiment 1, the purpose is to understanding if emotional stimulus and distraction will affect the participants’ performance of switch tasks. In experiment 2, there is a deeper understanding on emotional stimulus of distractions. For the results of this study, young people have better behavior than the elderly, no matter in positive or negative emotional stimulus. For contributions of this study, the emotional stimulus could be a trigger tool on switch tasks for elderly. Moreover, the effect of emotional stimulus could be a trigger on switch tasks for elderly. This effect also could be used at developing medical training tools. These tools could be used at training switch tasks ability and inhibit distractions ability.
