The hardware device of virtual reality (VR) technology has been developed over the years and gradually used in our daily life. Many applications combined with virtual reality have been launched on the market and makes virtual reality become a great hit. However, owing to the lack of proper design guidelines and development processes, the products from different companies are vary in quality. Meanwhile, the manufacturers which produce hardware equipment of virtual reality need to get through hundreds of failures to revise a simple function and that cause the delay of development. There are many different kinds of interactions between how users move in a virtual world or interact with virtual objects/characters. This study assessed and compared the difference between the two major virtual reality interactive control technologies: "Room-Scale Wireless Handle Control" and "Fixed Eye Focus Control" by practical research. In this study, users experienced the same virtual reality game with different interactive control, and through their performance, the researcher summarize and organize better virtual reality interactive design guidelines to provide reference for future applications. This study used Room Escape as the main situation because it needs a great quantity of interactions and explored which interactive design, handle control and eye focus control, could enable users to get a better sense of presence and operational fluency under the same game content. Two kinds of questionnaires, Slater-Usoh-Steed questionnaire and presence questionnaire, and interviews were conducted in the study. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that the two interaction modes had no significant difference in presence and operational fluency, since the main reason that effect presence is not the interactive way but the realism and exquisiteness of the virtual scene. Although handle control is inconsistent with the real interaction, it is not much differ from eye focus control in overall. In terms of operational fluency, the eye focus control is easier to use, whereas the handle control requires a short period of practice, but handle control is better than the eye focus control when experiencing the whole game. Most users prefer space mobile wireless handle control in highly interactive virtual reality games.
