排灣族舊社的聚落型態以往考古學家定義為「區域分隔村落」（segmented village），然至目前仍缺乏對排灣族聚落型構的長時限研究，即探討聚落內社會群集鄰近性如何能動性地維繫與建構社群關係，且具體地反映在聚落型態樣貌的形成過程。
本研究是以排灣族人Tjuvetskadan（老七佳）、民國五十年代遷徙形成的Tjukarangan（舊七佳）等舊社、民國六十年代因災再遷徙至今的七佳村為例。首先，研究策略以GIS作為平台繪製聚落形貌圖，做為探討空間鄰近性為主軸之相關分析，其二，透過民族考古學式的田野設計，參與觀察與紀錄七佳族人社會文化的延續與變化，探討頭人組織、親屬、配屬子民等構成社會鄰群之空間型構關聯性，藉由民族誌材料與空間量化分析之結果比較分析，提出聚落型態在貫時限上文化傳統彰顯出的持續與變化，進而豐富聚落型態型構解釋上的能動性，與形成過程的長時限動態性意義。

The settlement configuration of the Paiwan abandoned settlement was defined as segmented village by the archaeologists. However, there is still a lack of long-term research on the intra-site subgroup patterns of the Paiwan, that is, the relation of social and spatial proximity in the settlement. Furthermore, How the subgroups dynamically maintain and construct community relations, and specifically reflect the formation process of settlement configuration still not scrutinize in past studies. This study is based on tjuvecekadan, tjukarangan and tjuadresir. Those settlement are all established by tjuvecekadan, is part of the Paiwan ethnic group, one of many indigenous groups in Taiwan of whom some ethnographic accounts are known. Firstly, the research strategy uses GIS as a platform to illustrate the settlement configuration map as a foundation for analysis of spatial proximity, and secondly, through ethnoarchaeology as the approach, to implement participate observation in tjuadresir, record the continuation and transformation of the social tradition and explore relation between the spatial structure and the social organization formed by headman, relatives, and commoners. By comparing and analyzing the results of ethnographic materials and social syntax analysis, it is proposed that spatial proximity and social relation may have positive correlation. In sum, this research may help archaeologists have more background knowledges, when conducing space syntax analysis in abandoned settlements.
