(Time Up and Go; TUG)。
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate if the sling exercise combine with traditional physical therapy could improve activities of daily living function and balance function and ambulation ability in 30-70 years old stroke patients. Methods: Participants
were chronic stroke patients in an outpatient rehabilitation department of a regional teaching hospital in Changhua. Quasi-experimental designed was used in this study. All participants were divided into experimental group (N=10) and control group (N=10). Participants in experimental group received 15 minutes sling exercise and 45 minutes traditional physical therapy while participants in control group received 60 minutes traditional physical therapy. Both experimental group and control group intervened 2 times per week and last 8 weeks. Participants received received some measurements including Barthel index, Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and Time Up and Go (TUG) at pre and pro intervention. Results: There were no significant differences in demographic data, clinical characteristics, and evaluation data before intervention in both groups. The analysis results show that there were significant improvements in Barthel index, BBS and TUG in experimental group. Conclusion: Sling exercise combine with traditional physical therapy had positive effects on balance function of chronic stroke patients.
