Universities and industries are facing competitive pressures as a result of the increased number of higher educational institutions and the low birth rate. The complementarity between schools and businesses in terms of human resources became the incentives for the rapid development of this cooperation between schools and industries. As a result, a model thinking based on cooperation is taking form with the school turning towards the outside world for support in order to enhance its advantages. Using the South China University of Science and Technology as subject of study, the present research attempts to investigate beneficial recruitment strategies, clarify the advantages of the cooperation between the school and its partners in the market of the southern region, by carrying out a comprehensive survey with 196 students. The empirical evidence shows firstly that the proportion of men enrolled in higher education is higher than that of females, secondly that the number of vocational high school graduates is higher than that of conventional high school graduates, and finally the number of students from a two-parent family structure is higher than that of a single-parent family structure, an intergenerational family structure and other types of family structures. In addition, we found out that most caregivers have received a vocational high school training given that the number of those who go through “ vocational high school in-class publicity program” is higher than those who go through other schools.
