“Take Views of FULUION” is aimed to depict the historic landscape of FULUION, now named Fengyuan. Combining both of realistic paintings and surrealistic paintings, a series of Kanban oil paintings are created to describe the long-term historical changing tracks of this small city. These works are designed to record the changes and the memories of its historical origins, traditional faith, culture, environments, and city character from the period of Japanese occupied (1895~1945) to 2017. A movie theater usually offers people a place of gathering and entertainment. I try to play a role as a theater leader to lead the audience to explore FULUTON in a straight angle. Without projectors and real movie theaters, each Kanban oil painting represents a movie plot. It is also like a simulated time machine consisting of many aspects of FULUION, such as traffic, economy activities, entertainment, temples, custom and traditions, etc. Thus, “Take Views of FULUION” can be thought of as a special kind of documentary film about FULUTON. “Take Views of FULUTON” is created to be a special type of movie. Attached historical photos at Japanese-occupied time collected from my family albums and other representative photos about FULUTON, it offers a special way to lead people to travel through time, honestly telling the stories which have been happening in FULUION, and helps introduce cultural characteristics, tradition, and urban environment changes of Fengyuan.
