With a great interest in minority music, the researcher chooses Manchu music of Shaman dance from the Northeast China which reflects the bold, straightforward, and unconstrained, at the same time, with a subtle touch of the minority nationality as the thesis subject, this research focus on “The Ancient Rhymes of Shang-Jing” and “Dance of Shaman”, which these two repertoires mainly represent the characters of the minority and hopes to gain further understanding on this genre of music. After running an in-depth interview with both composers and analyze these two repertoires in great extent, the researcher aims to share her own view in interpretations and to bring closer look at the composing techniques and the distinctive characters of this genre of music.
