The present work aims to present the process in which the author induced a transformation of his mind and soul, emanating from interaction between his mind and art creation activities, which gave rise to analyses and syntheses from different perspectives of forms of expression and self-exploration of the meaning and value pertaining to his own spiritual life, during different stages of creation that occurred while he was studying for his master’s program. An exploration of self-understanding regarding the nature and texture of “mind” and “materials” was achieved in a creation process in which the mind and soul interacted with art creation activities by means of integration, selection, connection and transformation of inertia, which in turn inspired the many possibilities that art creation had. It was hoped that the forms of art expression unique to the author, which could demonstrate the genuine nature of the author’s own life would gradually be formed and could precisely convey the thoughts deep in his heart and his philosophy of life.
The work being dealt with consists mainly of the creations produced by the author during 2015 and 2017. The first chapter “Introduction” explains the motivation and purpose of the present study and addresses the scope and methodology of the research. The second chapter “Retrospective Thinking Back to Creation Process” examines the author’s childhood emotional trauma and the effects that ensued as well as his pleasant experiences resulting from creating games with the materials that he came in contact with in life. Over time the author developed methods and concepts by playing with materials to heal, restore and feel his heart; also, he cleansed himself with religious thinking, initiating creative core thoughts concerning his desire to go back to childhood. The third chapter“Artistic creation is the practice of heart” means that the experience and practical creation activities between “body and heart” will develop into “heart” and “things” among which the inevitable or occasional effect is constituted under any mutually corresponding core mechanism. It is used to describe life trace in life experience and inner spiritual emotion conversion.
The fourth chapter“Implementation of Forms of Creation and Beliefs” shows the indescribable process during which the author’s mind changed, touching on techniques to depict lines, forms, texture, space, light and shadow, atmosphere, and combination of different media that were exhibited visually by works to portray the author’s life story and illustrate a change in his state of mind. The fifth chapter “Action of the Body, Mind and Materials” mentions his attempt to explore forms of art expression. Five senses and the body language were involved in the creation process, inspiring the mind to feel, which was then projected onto materials. The body, mind and materials were used alongside one another in harmony, enhancing the author’s creativity, which got him to search for a higher mind-transcending level brought by art, which exemplified his design concept about combining materials and own self. The sixth chapter “Conclusion” talks about the author’s conversation with himself about own life, stemming from creation, in which he searched for ways to clear his mind and soul. Further, the author harbored thoughts during creation by inspecting his own works and reading related books, understanding the philosophy lying therein during his life and his creative process.
