本論文根據市面上類似的無線插座以及學術研究上的開發，並以使用者的便利性作為出發點，免除市售無線插座需搭配主控端運作的限制，簡化操作的複雜度，設計並實作出一套具有節電功能的無線插座，可隨插即用(plug and play)。
我們使用脈衝寬度調變(pulse width modulation, PWM)技術搭配固態繼電器(Solid-state relay)作為整個無線插座的核心技術。實現PWM機制時，我們發現電流反而將有上升的現象，造成此現象發生的原因，是根據 功率消耗公式，當功率為一定值時，電壓與電流成反比，為抑制電流增加的負面效用，我們使用整流二極體以及定電流二極體(current regulative diode)作為限制電流的元件。整流二極體只允許電流由單一方向通過，反向時阻斷，利用此特性將交流電轉換成只有單一方向的輸入，目的是讓定電流二極體不會因逆向電壓而損毀。
為了量化本技術的效能，我們進行系列實驗，另使用Visual C#實作PC電腦端介面供使用者設定無線插座的運作模式。實驗證明，以GoldStar的電冰箱作為實驗測試對象，本論文的方法在95%以及90%的時候的整體消耗與正常情況下相比，減少了2.16%及6.44%的消耗，且不影響電冰箱原有的功能。

Based on features of wireless sockets in the market and the development of academic research, this thesis takes user convenience and friendliness into account by ridding the user of the restriction that the socket operates under command of another master device jointly. In this light, we develop a wireless socket as an alternative that can be utilized standalone with ease in a plug-and-play fashion for power-saving purposes.
Core to our development is a pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique with the use of solid-state relays. During the early stage of implementing the PWM mechanism, we observed that the current rises when reducing the duty cycles. Such phenomena result from that, in line with Joule's First Law, the voltage is inversely proportional to the current, if power consumption remains fixed. The voltage-current product relation implies the negative effect of increasing current which, however, can be offset by introducing rectifier diodes and current regulative diodes. The former allows current from a single direction while blocking the reverse, so as to prevent the constant-current diode from being damaged due to reverse voltage. The latter, the current regulative diode, limits current to rise to a certain value and then level off at a specific threshold.
With our design in place, we implement a prototype working in 3 PWM modes which can be preset or adjusted with an Android APP over Bluetooth. In order to quantify the effectiveness of our design, we conducted field tests with a household appliance—LG GoldStar refrigerator of Model GR-131GVF—as a subject using our socket over long hours. Experimental results show that our wireless socket in 95% and 90% PWM modes reduces power consumption by 2.16% and 6.45%, respectively, without affecting normal operations of the tested appliance.
