本文以勞工行政勞就保、勞退、事業單位、老年年金給付、老年一次給付、失業給付資料研究發現，整體退休後有再就業者的平均退休年齡比無再就業者低，且投保年資也較長，而退休前的平均薪資除自2012年起女性無再就業者比有再就業者略高以外，其餘皆為有再就業者高於無再就業者。顯示出勞動者較早退休對於勞動市場不一定是損失，較晚退休也未必代表貢獻了更多的勞動價值。
個人對經濟的需求高低是影響退休者再就業的重要因素，在對經濟需求較高的組別中，退休前的平均薪資較高，會顯著的正面影響再就業的機率；而在對經濟需求較低的組別中，退休前平均薪資較高，會顯著的負面影響再就業的機率。個人的能力則是影響再就業所需時間的重要因素，人力資本愈高愈能顯著的減少再就業所需時間。
對於退休者，應仍將其視為是中高齡及高齡者，針對仍有意願再就業或有需要再就業，但可能有就業困難之對象，如過往平均薪資較低，尤其是過往平均薪資較低的女性，提供就業方面的協助。且由於職業訓練對於非回原事業單位之退休再就業所需花費時間無顯著影響，因此，就業的媒合建議以退休者已具備的能力為主，或是推介原事業單位再次聘用退休者回原職場。

This research uses Labor Insurance Bureau’s data to analyze the factors of retirees return to labor market. The primary results reveal that the average retirement age of those who reemploy is lower than those who don’t reemploy. Tthe average insurance salary in the past and the average insurance seniority of those who reemploy are higher than those who don’t reemploy. The demand for the economy will make the retirees’ decision of reemployment different. If the economic demand is low, a higher average insurance salary in the past will negtively affect the probability of reemployment. But if the economic demand is high, a higher average insurance salary in the past will postively affect the probability of reemployment. The individual’s ability is an important factor to affect how long a retiree needs to find a job. A higher human capital will reduce the time retirees needs.
According to the findings, we should just think of retirees as part of Middle-Aged and Elderly. For retirees’ labor force development, if the retirees are still willing to work but it’s hard to find a job for him or her, such as poor women, we have to provide employment assistance. Because middle-age and elderly prefer to find jobs that are matched with their current capabilities, we suggest the job matchmaking should focus on their original enterprise or the jobs that are already matched with their capabilities.
