The author hopes that this study is regarded as an attempt to reconstruct the Liberation Theology. First, the study cites the research results of social science for “addictive behavior” as the groundwork, revealing the universal phenomenon that modern people are addicted to digital technology. Definitely, the convenience of digital science in contributing to human life is indelible, but the author is more concerned about the general situation of humanity’s high dependence on digital technology, as if being trapped in the “digital oppression” of global capitalism. The survival and spirit of human beings or specific groups are more easily oppressed, resulting in a vague self-identity or the oblivion of the right of self-determination, especially the young people who are more likely to lose themselves in the diversified and chaotic present situation.
“Decolonization” is the main objective that Taiwan local theologians have long pursued together but failed to realize. A disciple of Taiwan Contextual Theology and praising as its successor, the author naturally has the duty to uphold the mission of the decolonization movement. Standing in position of the dual identity as “Taiwanese Christians” in history, Taiwan Contextual Theology has emphatically criticized the political colonial events of the 20th century. Now, local Christians are trapped in a more diversified and complex situation in the rapidly changing international context. With a hope of updating Taiwan Contextual Theology, facing with the context and conducting the new theological introspection, the author chooses from the original intention of “Spirit of Self-determination” of Taiwan Contextual Theology as the springboard so as to re-establish identity and seek the spirit and belief of “Liberation promotes success and preeminence” in the digitally dense environment. The theological method of Re-confession proposed by Dr. Po Ho Huang, coupled with Jurgen Habermas’ reconstruction method of historical materialism, will help the author fulfill his ambition to reconstruct Taiwan Contextual Theology that is suitable to Taiwan’s digital environment.
