中文摘要

根據美國睡眠學會(American Academy of Sleep Medicine, AASM)2014年所出版的國際睡眠障礙分類(International Classification of Sleep Disorders, ICSD-3)一書(AAMS, 2014),睡眠障礙多達80餘種,睡眠問題所導致的身體影響,除容易引發如高血壓、心臟病、血糖不易控制、腦中風、慢性病之外,也會造成白天注意力不集中、判斷力變差、情緒不穩定、嗜睡、精神不佳。根據勞動部進行的一項調查顯示,台灣勞動人口的工作時間在世界排名是第四位。80%的勞工男性持續有對健康和工作業績產生不利影響的睡眠債。另外,約20%的意外事故有潛在的睡眠問題.這些因睡眠障礙引起的健康與事故,將導致龐大的醫療費用的支出以及社會家庭的悲劇。也因此,美國,英國,加拿大等先進各國,早已針對睡眠障礙引起的疲勞駕駛立法加以規範,而德國的國際睡眠科學與科技協會(ISSTA)也基於這些證據,於2017年提出亞太經合會(APEC)睡眠科技提案(APEC Sleep Technology Agenda)。
本研究乃以整夜多功能睡眠生理檢查儀(polysomnography, PSG),挑選出阻塞型睡眠呼吸中止症候群(OSAS)患者37人,非阻塞型睡眠呼吸中止症候群13人,分別於入睡前期2.5小時給予薰衣草精油,之後給予蒸餾水直到當晚試驗結束。研究結果發現:實驗組打鼾的狀況明顯改善,有精油的介入平均每小時0.6次, 蒸餾水吸聞平均每小時0.94次,達到統計顯著差異。對於有睡眠呼吸中止症患者,有精油介入後,在第二期(N2)的睡眠階段明顯較長。本研究結果可提供薰衣草精油吸聞對睡眠影響的科學證據,並能改善人體十二經絡的變化,降低肝經的能量亦能提升脾經、膀胱經的能量。依此可設計後續的科學研究計畫及借由臨床驗證找出更多種改善睡眠的精油,並探導各種精油對經絡的影響。

ABSTRACT

According to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD-3) published by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in 2014 (AAMS, 2014), there are more than 80 kinds of sleep disorders. The physical effects caused by sleep problems, in addition to easily lead to such as high blood pressure, heart disease, blood sugar which are not easy to control, stroke, chronic diseases, but also cause inattention during the day, poor judgment, emotional instability, lethargy, poor spirit. According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Labor, Taiwan’s working population is ranked fourth in the world in terms of working hours. 80% of working men continue to have sleep debts that adversely affect health and job performance. In addition, about 20% of accidents have potential sleep problems. These health and accidents caused by sleep disorders will lead to huge medical expenses and the tragedy of social families. Therefore, advanced countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have already regulated the fatigue driving legislation caused by sleep disorders, and the International Association for Sleep Science and Technology (ISSTA) in Germany also proposed the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2017 based on these evidences, the APEC Sleep Technology Agenda.
Firstly, a multi-functional sleep physiology tester (PSG) was employed, and thirty-seven patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and 13 of non-obstructive sleep apnea syndrome were selected and given lavender essential oil 2.5 hours before bedtime, followed by distilled water until the end of the test. The research result showed that he condition of the snoring in the experimental group was significantly improved. The average intervention of essential oils was 0.6 times per hour, and the average per hour in distilled water was 0.94 times, which was statistically significant. For patients with sleep apnea, after the intervention of essential oils, the sleep phase in the second phase (N2) was significantly longer. Conclusion: The results of this study can be included in the scientific evidence of the effects of inhalation of Levender essential oils on sleep. The changes of the body's twelve meridians could be improved, such as increasing the energy of the liver meridian, and lowered the energy of the spleen and bladder meridians. Based on this result, we will design follow-up scientific research plans and find out more essential oils for improving sleep by clinical verification, and explore the effects of various essential oils on meridians.
