The damage of foundation pit always makes a negative impact on the surroundings, such as affecting the normal use of nearby pipelines, tilting the engineering piles in the pit and cracking the nearby houses. Especially, because of the overall instability, the underground structure cannot be constructed normally. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor carefully the support system, load-carrying capability of bulkhead, subsidence and tilt of neighboring buildings, soil stability and the change of groundwater level and ensure they are conducted in a safe condition. The 3D laser scanner has been developed recently and become a new tool to log space information. With the yearly advanced development of technology, the 3D laser scanner is totally different from old scanners. It is easier to use, better precision, and its data (so-called point cloud images) is clearer. The 3D laser scanner not only has automatic 360-degree scanning and ultimate rotation control, but also consists of photographing function that doesn’t limit to a certain range, helping to process the point cloud data more precisely and rapidly. Easy to carry, the scanned data in this machine can even be downloaded and checked by WIFI remote control equipment, recording any changes in construction while monitoring so that relevant measures can be performed. In order to ensure the construction safety, the safety monitoring system is established. During the construction, the inclinometer casing on the outside of the wall is observed, and the feedback analysis is carried out immediately to keep the safety of foundation excavation and construction. FARO S120 3D Laser Scanner is used to scan the sheet piles of the foundation. According to recorded point cloud data, the numerical model is constructed to discover the difference between the data of numerical model and the inclinometer casing on the outside of the wall by using the 3D scanner. The research method of this study is confirmed by the empirical results to conduct multiple-faceted scan range and acquire essential position data. In this way, the displacement of steel sheet piles can be shown completely and the feedback analysis can be carried out immediately to ensure the safety of foundation excavation. Therefore, it can be a feasible concrete technical solutions of current foundation excavation engineering.
