本論文主旨探討玄奘大學非應用外語學系學生對新多益測驗的感知與需求。本研究收集量化和質化問卷。問卷形式包括:新多益測驗調查問卷(學生)以及新多益測驗調查問卷(系主任)。在此研究中,共選取玄奘大學非應外系學生一百五十二位及七位來自玄奘大學不同科系之系主任參與問卷調查。此研究約持續九個月。研究資料分析,以文字及圖表加以討論及描述。研究結果顯示出大多數學生認為有新多益測驗的分數不論是對他們的未來升學或就業皆有幫助。在研究結果中,也發現系主任們對於學生們的新多益測驗的期待分數較高;但本校非應外系學生們的成績較低。透過本研究,希望本校在教育非應用外語學系學生時,能更直接了解非應外系學生的想法,進而幫助他們通過如新多益測驗的相關語言專業測驗,提昇學生們的英語能力。
This study investigates the perspectives of students at Hsuan Chuang University (HCU) in Taiwan on the New TOEIC test. The research participants include 152 HCU students from non-English majors and 7 chairpersons. Two semi- structured questionnaires (one for students, the other for the chairpersons) were used. The results were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. According to these results, most HCU students think that a New TOEIC score is useful for job-hunting, or for continuing on to higher degrees. The researcher hopes that this study will offer guidance to HCU instructors who teach English to students from non-English majors, as they decide how much to emphasize English proficiency tests such as the New TOEIC test.
