Upon foundation, collections and exhibitions, museums are important educational places. Past cultural collections can demonstrate national power and museums become the recording carriers of historical events. When people arrive in different places, by visiting local museums, they can immediately recognize local culture or the past. Nowadays, place meaning of museums becomes more significant and the museums start conveying educational concepts. We learn in museums which are new educational places.
When places of museums are not constrained by walls, they break through people’s original cognition of museums and they can further perceive the core of the objects. This study will treat Tainan, the first educational city in Taiwan, as the subject. Political alternation and policy of different periods are demonstrated in urban design and architecture. However, people still pay attention to education which is not halted with the change of time.
Curation based on “post-museum” as narration, in comparison to exhibitions of traditional museums, is more accessible for audiences and it results in different perception and interpretation. It is different from past exhibition model and with thinking or visual conflict or certain queer balance, when people visit Tainan museums, they recognize the participation in the place and more profoundly experience educational culture of Tainan.
