"Tactical vest" is an important equipment for military in the battlefield. If the discomfort or work disturbance occurs during the wearing process, the unwillingness to wear will seriously affect the overall combat strength of the unit. Therefore, the user-oriented ergonomic test and evaluation of the tactical vest is an important research topic.
The purpose of this study is to improve the overall fit and comfort of the tactical vest. To this end, through the literature review and experts' interviews, the selection indicators of various types of tactical vest users are summarized. According to the 178 questionnaires surveyed, five important indicators were found to be not satisfactory to the user. The research subjects will wear the 2016 Tactical Vest and the 2018 newly designed vest, with sizes for both genders, developed by the 205th Arsenal, to perform six postures of the basic combat operations, to compare the performance of each vest, through the implementation of an ergonomic test. Various objective measurement values include skin temperature, micro environmental climate, oxygen consumption, heart rate; subjective assessment is used to comprehensively analyze the advantages and disadvantages, and provide an evaluation report and recommendations.
The experimental results show that the two styles of combat vests perform similarly on various objective data, whether they are standing still or in a marching simulation. After comprehensive evaluation from a subjective perception, the improved version of the combat vest is less disturbing to the shooting position and combat movements than the active style because of the improved fitness. The results of this study will be able to substantially improve the design and development of the future tactical vests, which will improve the satisfaction of the national armed forces officers and soldiers to effectively implement the goal of national defense independence.
