This case study is about how Amar, who works in Wu-Yang corporate, develops a new type of motor and the progress of applying it on electric scooter. This case study stands on Wu-Yang corporate and Amar’s point of view to analyze both motor production and electric scooter and moreover their future trends, developments and how to integrate themselves into the world systems. There are three most crucial components in electric scooter: 1) Motor 2) Battery 3) Electric controller. The key factor of the performance of electric scooter lies in the motor. Nevertheless, facing the low price of the competition from the low-price motor in China, it is now a severe challenge. Also, Wu-Yang corporate has long been producing small brushed DC motor. However, the motor in electric scooter is in a larger size and brushless type. Brushed motor and brushless motor are two totally different field and it consequently makes the Japanese Wu-Yang corporate have a slow progress and hold a conservative perspective. How Amar can successfully persuade the Japanese management team is another great task. Moreover, this case study applies the business model analysis targeting on electric scooter. This case study chooses to discuss the motor manufacturer, Wu-Yang corporate, and discusses how it develops the motor in electric scooter and effectively uses business model analysis to enter the market of electric scooter and compete with other corporates. This study adopts the methods of collecting information from the client and the supplier and also uses business model analysis to try to find the future operating direction of the motor in electric scooter.
