Mindfulness is one of the fastest growing wellness trends in the global market today. Not only individuals, but also businesses are beginning to take a serious look into its impact on both the personal and professional spheres. However, there still seems to be an inconsistency in the way it manifests in different societies. The objective of the following paper will explore the factors that may contribute to this, specifically the discrepancy between Eastern and Western perceptions, and the effect of these conflicting mindsets on the utilization of mindfulness techniques in a professional environment.
In doing so, mental health will be discussed to present the correlation between how comfortably these issues are discussed and how commonly mindfulness is promoted in the workplace. By specifically comparing Eastern and Western viewpoints, the role mindfulness plays in distinct cultures will be examined in further detail to convey the conclusion that despite varying usages, practicing mindfulness is an important technique that companies should adopt because it leads to overall better work performance, regardless.
The methodology will be applied through qualitative and quantitative methods of literature meta-analysis and dissecting survey interview responses. The research and results gathered, along with reviews of relevant academic sources, aim to critically assess the importance that mindfulness has on strengthening job performance within modern day corporation. To conclude, the paper will promote the importance of implementing mindfulness programs into the workplace. As a subject that in itself is garnering a lot more attention, the overall study will be important in promoting the effectiveness of mindfulness to enhance job performance in the workplace.
