道路的維護可區分為即行性與計畫性維護，時常因為無法事前預知道路損壞類型及程度，導致修補時效太慢，而產生民怨及國賠憾事。目前已有針對鋪面狀況指標(PCI)及國際糙度指標(IRI) 預測的研究，但都屬於計畫性維護範圍，尚缺乏建構即時性損壞(如坑洞、龜裂等)的預測機制。
本研究將藉由結構方程模型(Structural Equation Modeling,SEM)確認鋪面劣化因素與道路鋪面狀況指標(PCI)二構面間的關聯因子，再利用多變量迴歸分析(Multivariate Regression Analysis)，找出二構面關聯因子的迴歸方程式，作為道路鋪面即時性損壞(如坑洞、龜裂等)的預測模型。藉由本文建立之預測模型，可預測道路即時性損壞的類型及面積，提供道路養護單位運用於鋪面維護管理，並預為資源規劃、預算配置及制定銑鋪修補計畫，以提升鋪面維護成效。

Road maintenance can be divided into immediate and planned maintenance. Since the type and extent of road damage cannot be known in advance, the repair time is usually slow, resulting in residents’ complaints or even state compensation for regrets. At present, there are already some researches on the prediction of the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and the International Roughness Index (IRI), but they all belong to the scope of planned maintenance, and there is still no mechanism to predict the immediate damage (such as potholes, cracks, etc.)
In this study, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to confirm the correlation factor between two dimensions: the pavement deterioration factor and the the road Pavement Condition Indicator (PCI). Multivariate regression analysis is then used to find out the regression equation between the two, so as to set up a prediction model for the immediate damage of road pavement (such as potholes, cracks, etc.). With the prediction model established in this study, the type and area of immediate road damage can be forecasted, road maintenance units can apply this for pavement maintenance management, and resource planning, budget allocation and milling repair plans can be prepared in advance to improve the effectiveness of pavement maintenance.
