菲利浦．戈貝爾(Philippe Gaubert , 1879-1941)為法國長笛學派(L’école française de flûte)的長笛演奏家，同時也身兼教育家、指揮家與作曲家等多重身分。他曾在巴黎音樂院(Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris)任教，其學生馬歇爾·莫易茲（Marcel Moyse,1889-1984）、賀內·勒華（René Le Roy,1898-1985）皆成為當代代表性的長笛演奏家及教育家。戈貝爾彙整恩師─保羅．塔法內爾（Paul Taffanel，1844-1908）所留下的筆記，將之編訂成《17首技巧日課大練習》（17 Grands Exercices Journaliers de Mécanisme），對於長笛學習者有著重要的貢獻。
戈貝爾總共創作了三首長笛奏鳴曲，《第三號長笛與鋼琴奏鳴曲》為其擔任巴黎音樂院的教職以及管弦樂團之指揮時期所作，於1934年出版。
本文共分為四章，第一章為緒論，將簡述說明筆者研究此作品的動機及目的，說明研究範圍與研究方法，與使用之參考文獻；第二章探討戈貝爾的時代背景，如何影響其作曲風格；第三章將對此首奏鳴曲的基本架構做分析，探討演奏時須注意的詮釋；第四章為結語，將歸納前述章節的內容要項及筆者個人心得。

Philippe Gaubert (1879-1941) is regarded as a flute player of the French flute school (L’école française de flûte), and he also has multiple identities as teacher, conductor and composer. Gaubert taught at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris, and his students Marcel Moyse (1889-1984) and René Le Roy (1898-1985) are both famous flutists. Gaubert edited 17 Grands exercices journaliers de mècanisme with his mentor, Paul Taffanal (1844-1908), which has a significant contribution to the flute pupils and performers..
Philippe Gaubert composed three sonatas for flute. He published the “Third Sonata for Flute and Piano” in 1934 during his career as a professor and a conductor of the orchestra in the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris.
The dissertation is divided into four chapters. Chapter one presents the motivation and purpose, as well as the method and references of the research. the research of “Third Sonata for Flute and Piano”. Chapter two introduces the historical background of the piece and discusses how it affected the style and method of Gaubert. Chapter three explores an analysis and the personal performing interpretation of the sonata. A conclusion ends the dissertation.
