An Action Research of Integrating Local Education into Social Studies Teaching in Sixth Grade of Elementary School in New Taipei City Abstract
The purpose of this study is researching the effect of students’ learning, the difficulties during the investigation, and finding out the solutions while applying local education of Xinzhuang district to social studies for 5th-6th Grader students in elementary schools. The results are surveyed via action research method, such as videoing, photographing, recording teaching log, and filling in feedback form and rating scale by students. The influence and benefits are shown after analyzing the consequences mentioned above, pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Here comes the achievements of this research:
1.Feedback from co-teachers and students brings problem solutions and teaching techniques improvement by utilizing action researches. 2.The effect of applying local education to social studies can be enhanced by utilizing action researches. 3.Teachers should enrich resource of education before applying local education to social studies via collecting information and understanding local history, geography and society by field visit. 4.Students realize more of their experience and the knowledge of their hometown through applying local education to social studies.
