Trolling on the Internet forums has become widespread in recent years, which has been regarded as serious problems and concerns in online interpersonal interactions. Therefore, it is worthy of further research on this phenomenon.

In particular, only a handful of studies on trollers and trolling have been presented, and still, there are many related issues needed to be clarified and solved. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of trolling on the emotions of the Internet users. Based on a Two-way ANOVA design, this thesis try to explore the effects of news (trolling vs. common) and comment (trolling vs. common vs.no comment) on emotion (Positive vs. Negative).

The official study experimentally invited 529 online users (274 males and 255 females) aged over 18 years old to fill in Positive and Negative Affect scales and randomly assigned to read one of the six combinations of news and comments. After reading the news and comments, participants were requested to compare their emotional differences as indicators of emotional change.

The research conclusions obtained in this study are listed below:
1. Internet users who read trolling news and comments would reduce their emotions.
2. Under all combined circumstances, if any trolling news or comments are included, it will contribute to emotional decline.
3. Interviewees who read neutral comments in trolling news situations makes greater emotional decline than those in the non-viewing comment group, and the test percentage is similar to those viewing the trolling comments group.

Finally, based on the above research results, this study puts forward specific and feasible suggestions for reference in subsequent studies.
