The importance of the role of new immigrants Taiwan has become more and more influential over time, and the process of integrating new immigrants into Taiwan’s culture will become an important issue. Therefore, this study aims to explore the relationship between work and leisure conflicts, leisure motivation, leisure involvement and positive emotions of new immigrants in the process of participating in leisure, and to further explore the moderating effects of their social support on the above-mentioned variable relationships. A structured questionnaire survey was conducted for new Vietnamese immigrants in Taichung, Taiwan, using a purposive sampling method, and a total of 318 valid questionnaires were issued.
The study makes a use of descriptive statistics, test of the significance of difference and these models were analyzed by using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results show sample information that: information socioeconomic status variable distribution is main for man (51.6%) in gender part which ages are in 21 to 30(51.9%); Most of them are unmarried (48.1%), next are married and have children (38.1%); senior high school graduated (75.5%). Immigrate to Taiwan over three years (54.7%) account for the majority and so does average monthly income between 20,001~30,000. Most of them participate leisure activity 2 to 3 (41.5%) times a month and the fee fall between 1,001~2,000 (32.7%)
Research results of Mean Difference Test: Different socioeconomic backgrounds of new immigrants (gender, marital status, education level, average monthly income), different leisure participation behaviors of new immigrants(monthly leisure participation, monthly leisure participation fee), and their leisure involvement degree, there are some significant differences in leisure motivation, positive affect and social support.
In the part of the overall model verification results : the "leisure motivation" and "leisure involvement" of the new immigrants have a significant positive impact on the " positive affect "; The social support of the new immigrants has a significant moderating effect of the relationship between "leisure motivation" and "leisure involvement". Finally, some suggestions on management implications and future research directions are put forward.
