Humans manufacture more than 300 million metric tons of plastic every year, and the amount of plastic packaging used is about 78 million tons (Greenpeace, 2019). The global waste plastic recycling rate accounts for 14%, and incineration treatment accounts for 14%. There are still many plastic products scattered in the environment and Ocean drifting. Based on social welfare issues, this study explores new materials to replace plastic straws through content analysis and biomass material experiment methods. For the material source, manufacturing method, cost structure, and disposal method of the straw, find out the veins through the content analysis method, and conduct the temperature difference experiment on the straw, and analyze the quality and benefits of different straws after burning. The results of this study found that: (1) It is a global trend to ban or restrict the use of plastics. Taiwan and other countries and companies with social responsibilities have set goals and implemented them. (2) There are many types of biomass materials. In addition to the traditional petroleum-based plastics, the products of the biomass-based plastics are constantly being innovated. Among them, bioplastics based on bamboo powder can highly replace traditional plastics. (3) Although biodegradable plastic can be turned into zero or even decomposed, it still contains substances that may be harmful to the environment. Biomass materials have been certified as bio-compostable, which can reduce the environmental and soil degradation after the material is decomposed. And water damage. If the biomass material can further meet the standards of family composting or ocean decomposition, it will be more friendly to the environment. (4) The air quality after burning is better evaluated with bamboo powder straws, paper straws will release excess formaldehyde, it is worth noting. In summary, the results of this study show that bamboo grows fast, sustains circulation, is easy to obtain, inexpensive, and has low carbon emissions. Bamboo straws are as convenient and practical as plastic straws. After use, compost decomposition will not cause soil damage, and incineration will not cause air pollution wastewater. It is the best material to replace plastic straws. Based on the results of the study, this study will help relevant companies choose alternative plastic straws and provide reference for relevant government policies.
