The first Ponzi scheme officially occurred in Thailand in 1977. However, social media plays an active role to the online Ponzi scheme lately. Many people have been unconsciously approached through social media by online Ponzi scheme. This study investigated twelve people who were the victim of online Ponzi schemes with different habitat to penetrate and better understand their perceptions of online fraud and decision-making process.

A sample size of twelve people was selected through Facebook page, Facebook group and Twitter. Data for the study was acquired through in-depth interview. Based on the in-depth interview data, it revealed investment reviews, high yield, complicated banking system have influenced victims’ decision-making and incentive to continue the investment. The interviewees agreed that Frail law increased the flourish of online Ponzi scheme as well. The findings revealed that young female of interviewees invested more than once. Interestingly, some interviewees knew the online Ponzi schemes are frauds and it will collapse soon. However, some of the interviewees trusted in themselves that they would walk out before the scheme crashing. Based on the findings, it was suggested that Thai government should make seriously legal actions to prevent the occurrence of online Ponzi schemes repeatedly and educational institutions should include teaching on the hazard of entering in online Ponzi schemes.
