台灣自2002年加入世界貿易組織後，在面對快速改變的競爭環境下，農民必須另外找尋創新及切合實際的彈性方式因應外來的競爭，契作具有降低農戶生產風險、穩定價格，也能夠藉由拓展農產品銷售通路及確保農民收入來源，顯示契作確有其多項優點。本研究希望了解台灣主力農家是否參與契作，以及有哪些因素可能會影響農民參與契作的意願。
本研究之使用資料為行政院主計總處102年主力農家經營概況調查，透過Probit模型進行實證分析，發現農民的性別、從農年資、農場上工作天數、年齡、曾經從事的行業別、農業型態(農耕、畜牧)、耕地大小、農戶收入等會顯著影響農民參與契作的意願。

Taiwan became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2002. Faced with a rapidly changing competitive environment, farmers need to find innovative, practical and flexible approach in response to external competition. Contract farming can reduce farmers' production risks and stabilize prices. Also, contract farming helps expand produce sales channels and ensure farmers' income sources, which goes to show that contract farming has many advantages. This study aims to understand whether the major farmers in Taiwan conduct contract farming, and what factors may affect the interest of farmers to participate in contract farming.
The data used in this study is the Survey of the Major Farming Operations conducted by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan of Taiwan in 2013. Employing the Probit model, this study found that gender of the farmer, number of years of experience in farming, number of days worked on the farm, age, industry that the farmer had worked in before, type of agriculture, size of the cultivated land, income of the farmer significantly affect the likelihood of participation in contract farming among farmers in Taiwan.
