This thesis is mainly focusing on my works and creative progress from year 2019 to 2021. Ink-painting was selected as the main creating mediums, and supplemented with pigments and techniques of Nihonga. To express the “alienation” between people and social phenomenon that I observed, paintings are displayed with features (e.g., wall, solitary moon, gloomy sky) and short and miscellaneous lines for showing lonely and anxious emotion. This thesis consists of five chapters. First, the artistic trend of new generation ink-painting artists in ART TAIPEI and the impact of high-tech communication products to modern people’s life that I have observed in recent years are stated in Chapter 1. Then, the basis of aesthetic is elaborated in Chapter 2. Instead of thinking the relationship between ink brushes and ink-painting and proposing augment with proof, the characteristics of ink-painting are generalized according to my own creation. In Chapter 3, Western classic literatures and Chinese Songs of Chu are applied to explain “alienation”. The alienation displayed on paintings is investigated via the aspects of compositions, symbols, lines, and materials. The analyses of my work’s creating process from the initial idea to a complete exposition are recorded and revealed in Chapter 4 with a more perceptual way, which includes the creating train of thoughts within three years. Chapter 5 is the conclusion of this thesis, which is summarizing my concepts on creation. Keywords: ink-painting, alienation, solitary, ink brushes.
