The main purpose of this study is to explore the mediator of the
decision-making process of psychiatric patients in the relationship
between decision-making factors and decision-making results. This
study adopts a cross-sectional design, with 160 psychiatric outpatients
selected for sampling. Research tools include: basic demography,
decision participation expectation scale, decision self-efficacy scale,
shared decision questionnaire for patients (SDM-Q-9), decision conflict
scale (DCS), satisfaction with decision scale (SWD) and decision regret
scale (DRS).
The results of the study are as follows: (1) Patients' decision-making
self-efficacy (β.=395) and shared decision (β.=439) are factors affecting
the satisfaction with decision-making; patients' decision-making selfefficacy
(β-.316) and shared decision (β-.=411) are factors affecting
decision conflict; patients' decision-making self-efficacy (β-.395) and
shared decision (β-.183) are factors affecting decision regret. (2)
Psychiatric patient's shared decision has partial mediation (β.distribution
goes from .651 to .395, P < .001) in the relationship between decision
self-efficacy and satisfaction with decision; mental patient's shared
decision has partial mediation (β.distribution goes from .-556 to -.316, P
< .001) in the relationship between decision self-efficacy and decision
conflict; mental patient's shared decision has partial mediation
(β.distribution goes from -.465 to -.359, P < .001) in the relationship
between decision self-efficacy and decision regret.
The results of the study show that the factors, process and results of
psychiatric patients' decision-making are inseparable and can affect one
another. Shared decision-making has partial mediation in the
relationships between decision self-efficacy and satisfaction with
decision, and decision conflict and decision regret. The study results
serve as an important reference for future practices in promoting shared
decision-making in the field of psychiatric care.
