創作是來自對生命的體悟，而我的生命經驗裡最多的是與家人間的互動關係。生在大家庭中的我感受到家族中人們緊密的連結，同時也遭遇了世代間價值觀差異所產生的衝突。我感受到自己的一部份來自對所處環境的內化，另一部分則正在上演新舊價值觀的衝突及融合。於是社會化過程中所遭遇的困境成為我的創作動機，而創作同時也反映了我在與環境應對過程中的改變。
第一章先簡述創作背景，帶入社會學家布赫迪厄（Pierre Bourdieu）關於慣習（habitus）的概念，敘述家庭及學校等場域對我的影響，以及內化其中價值觀後所產生的慣習，而舊有慣習在遭遇新環境時，因不合時宜所產生的滯後作用（hysteresis）則成為我的創作動機。第二章是在轉化慣習過程中所做的創作嘗試，我將人偶/人像作為移情的主要對象，發展不同類型的創作，期望能暫時在想像的世界中逃避痛苦。第三章則嘗試由家族開始去分析自身所處的場域，以創作呈現出華人文化中獨有的女性樣貌，重新思考自身文化對於女性性別期待的適切性。最後藉由創作中對自身慣習的察覺，練習去放下原本束縛住自己的價值觀。

My Inspirations for art practice are gained from the realization towards the life. Most of my life experiences are interactions and relationship with my family. As a child born in a big family, while feeling that close connection among the family, I encounter conflicts as a result of generation gap and value differences. Inside me, I perceive that a part of me comes from the internalization influenced by the living environment, and the other part goes through not only the fighting between the new and old values but their fusions. Consequently, the dilemmas during the process of the socialization become my motivation of creating; meanwhile, the creations reflect the transformation of me through the interaction with the environment where I live in.

In the first chapter, after introducing the background of my art practice, I bring in the concept of “habitus” introduced by the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu to describe how the places such as my house and schools influence me and habitus resulted from the internalization of values observed in those places. The old habitus produces the “hysteresis” when it turns out to be inappropriate in the new environment, which become my motivation of creation. In the second chapter, it mainly talks about my attempt on creating during the process of dealing with the habitus. I regard dolls or figures as the main object of the transference to create with various categories so as to escape from the pain by immersing in the imaginary world. In the third chapter, I try to analyze my situation and places starting from my family. While the specific and unique Asian female images are presented with my art works, I rethink about the appropriateness of the expectations put on women from my culture. Eventually, I attempt to release myself from those values that has restricted me by raising the awareness of my habitus through the art practice.
