The purpose of this creative research is to "travel" as the main axis, from the author's travel experience and the travel experience of relatives and friends as the object of creation, looking for the author's own and relatives and friends travel process as the text, to reproduce each emotional connection in an image narrative way.
In the literature review, I try to explore the characteristics and applications of ultra-light clay, commercially available clay properties of diverse materials, and try to compare the common ultra-light clay and paper clay.The ultra-light clay color bright and diverse, weight of paper clay 1/3, elasticity and extension are better than paper clay. It’s very suitable for the use of creative media, most often used as jewelry, decoration or doll-making and teaching materials.
In the field of artistic creation, the use of ultra-light clay as a medium for the presentation of works vary from person to person. This creative discussion is titled " Travel Memories：Clay Handicrafts by Chen Shu-Yu ", which shows the memory of people, things and things in the course of travel, and presents the concept of "memory reproduction" through the creation. Through creation and research, I produce in the "travel" and "travel record" through the molded form, in order to present different forms of record to reflect the diversity of life.
In the first chapter, this study explores the opportunities for thinking about motivations and subject matter, interwoven with the emotions of each journey through clay handicrafts, and records travel and life on clay to construct a new definition and value of travel. The second chapter discusses the history of clay and doll development and market analysis, and then explores the form and personal recognition of the works by the artist's creative thinking and style of work as a research guide. The third chapter explains the creative concept and the creative process, the creative concept is practiced in three dimensions: emotion conversion, character design, and scene planning, to convey the memory of translation and reproduction of travel, and a single work to illustrate the method and production process of clay creation The fourth chapter analyzes a total of 14 works in the second series of Travel Trail and Travel Fun, explaining the content and form of each work. The fifth chapter is the last chapter, throughout the whole research and creative process, reflect on travel, memory and human dependence, to understand the philosophy of life. And extend the possibility of thinking about the development of future creation, and develop the spiritual model of "customization" into cultural and creative products
