Abstract

The main objectives of the current study were to analyze the relationships among Sexting Behavior, Sexual Autonomy, Sexual Attitude and Psychological Distress, while at the same time investigating how gender influences this participation. In total 207 (52.6% female) University Students from two universities and two colleges in Macau, aged 18–28 years participated and completed a questionnaire about the variables. The relationships among the variables were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. T-test, 2-WAY ANOVA, Correlation and Multiple Regression statistics were conducted on the sample.
The results indicated that (1) Sending and receiving a sexually suggestive text were the most common sexting behaviors among university students, and that it was with committed partner (n=67.3%). (2) University student who had ever sent and received a sexually suggestive text to committed partner was scored lower on the psychological distress, but only existed among male.
