Objective: To assess factors associated with quality and patient satisfaction.
Study design: A cross-sectional survey was conducted, involving the distribution of 360 questionnaires to patients aged 18 years or older who had spent at least 2 days in the hospital before their discharge. The study conducted at gastrointestinal department, Tu Du Hospital, Vietnam, from March 21 to April 20, 2023. The patients must be able to read, write, and understand the language and be willing to voluntarily participate in the study. Simple random sampling was utilized to collect the data.
Methodology: Patient satisfaction about quality of nursing care after the endoscopic procedure were assessed using a modified PSNCQQ questionnaire. The collected data was imputed into an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed using SPSS software.
Result: Result: There were 360 questionnaires fully returned, resulting in a 100% response rate with an average age of 35.06 years. The average patient satisfaction with nursing care quality questionnaire score is 3.95 ± 1.40 on the 5-scale. Nearly one-third of respondents would like to give excellent responses about the quality of nursing care at the G-I department of Tu Du Hospital. In multiple linear regression results, p-values are less than 0.05 for income and perceived health variables, indicating that these two factors are associated with patient satisfaction. For the Pearson correlation test to determine the degree and direction of the association between the variables in this study, The coefficients of nursing care quality are positive and range between 0.72 and 0.90.
Conclusion: The findings also reveal that nurses' manner, attitude, skill, knowledge, and competence have a strong relationship with the overall patient satisfaction rating of general services. In addition, income and perceived health likely influence patient satisfaction (reflected in respondents' scores about the quality of nursing care items). Specifically, the estimates in the table tell us that the higher the income and perceived health patients have, the higher the patient satisfaction score.
