The production of steel beam components in steel fabrication plants is due to the expansion of production capacity, the original steel beam production line will be converted to a steel column production line, box column production line will be set up with new equipment, new processes, as well as the working environment, because the steel column and steel beam due to the different types of occupational(OSH) hazards generated by the process is also different, the need to establish occupational safety and health system. In this study, an occupational safety and health system was established for the new box column production line. The first stage of the box column production process in the steel fabrication plant included primary and secondary processing, and the second stage had 12 processes. The results indicated that the exposure time and incidence of hazards in the steelworks were determined by the severity of the hazards, and the high risks of box columns included drop-cutting, grooving, U-shaped internal welding, mouth assembly and welding, heat shaping and large welding. The corrective measures to comply with ISO 45001 are to be implemented in accordance with the three levels of documentation. With the introduction of an occupational safety and health system and the development of preventive and corrective measures, it is ensured that the unacceptable risks of each process are managed and that the occurrence of hazards is controlled or reduced. As a result of this OSH system, no injuries have occurred at the steelworks so far in 2021.
