This thesis focuses on the aesthetic principles in traditional China painting and that of Western painting, infused with contemporary aesthetic awareness, to explore the unique natural landscape of the northern coast of Taiwan, encompassing the geological characteristics, weather, vegetation, and human activities of the region. It is a concrete expression of my own understanding of beauty, with northern coastal Taiwan as the background. This paper is organized into six chapters to present the author's research and process of artistic creation. The first chapter expounds the research motivation, purpose, research content, scope, and method. The second chapter outlines the geographical landscape of the northern coast of Taiwan. Chapters 3 and 4 comprise the core of this thesis "Rugged Mountains and Rocks, Charming Scenery" (嶙峋山岩,旖旎風光). Chapter 3 explores the unique natural landscape and local natural colors of the northern coast of Taiwan and analyzes the traditional Chinese technique of expressing geological textures, present the spiritual aspects of traditional Chinese aesthetics. Chapter 4 analyzes the aesthetics of sketch creation in both China and the West and analyses the aesthetic concepts of artists who integrated Chinese and Western painting concepts in their work in modern times. Chapter 5 analyzes in detail the thoughts, expressive techniques, and materials of the coastal style creation practice. The final chapter consists of the concluding reflections and future prospects.
